What is it?
I call it “the homeopathic Xanax” because of how relaxed and unbothered the Technique makes me feel. Technically, it’s just improving body awareness. I don’t heal anyone; I’m not that powerful. But your body is that powerful. Together we investigate the interferences that prevent optimal breath or movement.
We are in a renaissance of embodied agency within functional medicine. If you have chronic pain, that’s a great sign there’s not more work to “do”, but more patterning to UNDO. By altering how you hold yourself in everyday activities, you eliminate inefficient habits, heal faster, and live more comfortably in your body.
Physical Therapy focuses on FACILITATION - turning on muscle. Alexander focuses on INHIBITION - turning off muscle.
Referring to INHIBITION as PAUSING, RESETTING, or UNDOING helps clarify the process through better understood cues. PT/AT are not opposite, but complementary. In one study on Alexander + PT, synergistic benefit of both staggeringly outpaces either intervention by itself.

The Technique involves gentle, hands-on guidance (tactile cues) and instruction (verbal cues) to help you become more aware of your movement patterns. Through a series of sessions, you will learn to:
Observe the breath and practice non-interference.
Recognize and release tension.
Develop a more efficient way of moving.
Comprehend and apply these principles to daily activities such as sitting, standing, walking, and lifting.

Lessons are, of course, tailored to meet your needs/goals. This is an ergonomic, supportive, and empowering environment where you can explore mobility and transform habits. By integrating the principles of inhibition/direction, you can achieve a greater sense of ease, and freedom.
1st lesson - 90 min

Your first lesson is 90 minutes to get an injury history and postural assessment. From there we start experimenting.
Returning students - 1 hour
$250/hr
One on one private lessons offers you the most direct hands-on experience.
